The best family friendly beaches in South Cornwall![]() The PRIVATE beach at Bream Cove lies about half a mile east of Mawnan Smith and roughly midway between Maenporth and Rosemullion Head. ![]() Cadgwith is actually TWO small beaches separated by a small narrow headland known as the Todden. ![]() Castle Beach is a south facing beach overlooked by Pendennis Castle. It is suitable for picnics and allows safe bathing and can be found opposite the Falmouth Hotel. ![]() Coverack has quite a rocky beach and is better known for its more picturesque harbour. There are good opportunities for anglers here. ![]() Also known as Jangye Ryn, Dollar Cove is a west facing beach near Helston on the Lizard Peninsula. ![]() Gunwalloe Church Cove is an unusual beach in that there is a church set below the low cliffs of Castle Mound at its northern end. Gyllyngvase Beach is a long thin stretch of golden sand facing southeast and overlooked by Pendennis Castle. ![]() Helford Passage is a narrow strip of patchy sand and fine shingle situated on the northern shore of the pictureque Helford River. ![]() Kennack Sands is a southeast facing beach situated roughly halfway between Cadgwith and Coverack on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula. ![]() The beach at Kynance Cove really unfolds at low tide when it is possible to explore the caves and the bases of the serpentine rock stacks. ![]() Maenporth Beach lies roughly midway between downtown Falmouth and the Helford River. Its name means 'Cove of the Rocks'. ![]() Dominated as it is by the imposing St. Michael's Mount, many people overlook Marazion as a beach in its own right. ![]() Mullion Cove harbour was built in 1895 and the village was formerly known as Porth Mellin or 'Mill Cove'. ![]() Poldhu Cove (Black Pool Cove), is a southwest-facing beach with the rather imposing Poldhu Residential Home - formerly an hotel. ![]() Polurrian Cove lies just seaward of the village of Mullion. It is a southwest-facing beach with golden sand and patches of fine shingle. ![]() A mile long beach of golden sand. Praa Sands, pronounced locally as 'Pray Sands', lies just south of the A394 Helston to Penzance road. ![]() Swanpool Beach is a very sheltered beach offering quite safe bathing. The golden sand is littered here and there with rocks. |
