Surfing Beaches in South Cornwall Marazion Dominated as it is by the imposing St. Michael's Mount, many people overlook Marazion as a beach in its own right.  Perranuthnoe Perran Sands is a half mile long beach of flat golden sand and is completely covered at high tide.  Praa Sands A mile long beach of golden sand. Praa Sands, pronounced locally as 'Pray Sands', lies just south of the A394 Helston to Penzance road.  Poldhu Cove Poldhu Cove (Black Pool Cove), is a southwest-facing beach with the rather imposing Poldhu Residential Home - formerly an hotel.  Polurrian Cove Polurrian Cove lies just seaward of the village of Mullion. It is a southwest-facing beach with golden sand and patches of fine shingle.
