Surfing Beaches in West CornwallLusty Glaze Lusty Glaze Beach is a quite small beach at the eastern end of Newquay's main beaches. Tolcarne Tolcarne Beach offers a fine expanse of golden sand to its visitors.  Great Western Beach Great Western Beach is most easily approached from the west by crossing over Towan Beach.  Towan Towan Beach is a firm favourite with most visitors due to its proximity to the Aquarium and the harbour.  Fistral Fistral Beach is world reknowned in surfing circles as probably the best surfing beach in the UK.  Crantock Crantock Beach is quite large at low tide but the beach disappears rapidly on an incoming tide due to its very flat nature.  Polly Joke Porth Joke Beach lies between the headlands of Kelsey Head and Pentire Point West.  Holywell Bay Holywell Bay is a west facing fairly level beach, with large dunes and a small stream making up the back of the beach.  Perranporth The sand at low tide extends over a large area and is extremely flat.  Chapel Porth There is NO beach at Chapel Porth at high tide and swimming is prohibited. At low tide however, the sea retreats to exhibit fine golden sand.  Porthtowan The name of this cove in Cornish means 'Cove of dunes'. There is a fairly level beach, even at high tide, growing considerably at low tide.  Portreath The name of this beach may have derived from the Cornish Porth Treath meaning 'Beach Cove'.  Godrevy Towans Godrevy Towans marks the northern reach of Hayle Sands.  Porthmeor Porthmeor Beach is the westernmost of St. Ives' beaches and is a favourite with surfers and bodyboarders.  Gwynver The beach pronounced locally as 'Gwenvur' is slightly more windswept and rocky that its neighbour and is the haunt of the surfing community.  Whitesand Bay Whitesand Bay lies just about a mile northeast of Land's End on the western tip of Cornwall. The Bay is made up by the two beaches of Sennen Cove Beach and Gwynver Beach.
