Polzeath, Hayle Bay

Polzeath, Hayle Bay beach, Cornwall

Granted a Blue Flag Award for 2015, Hayle Bay, Polzeath is a very popular surfing beach due to its north west facing aspect. The beach overlooks Padstow Bay in North Cornwall. It consists of golden sand and lies sheltered to some extent by Stepper Point to the south west and Pentire Point to the north east.

The beach lies close to the settlements of Polzeath, New Polzeath and Trebetherick and is seldom deserted... even in winter. Its proximity to Padstow and Rock, as well as numerous camp and caravan sites also make it popular with families wanting to burn off some energy on a large sandy beach.

For the more adventurous, there are some excellent walks north east around Pentire Point to the Rumps and on into Port Quin Bay or south west along the Greenaway towards Daymer Bay.

Geologists may wish to check out Broadagogue Cove at nearby Trebetherick.
