Cottage Holidays in Porthcurno
Traditional granite cottage in St Levan, near Land's End, in remote West Cornwall. Close to stunning beaches and the wild cliffs. Sleeps 6 in 3 Bedrooms.
Raftra Cottage is set down a farm track in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just two miles from Land’s End, England’s most westerly point. A walker’s paradise, there are miles of footpaths from Raftra, leading to some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. We have a choice of beaches within walking distance, from the popular family beach at Porthcurno (lifeguards on duty all summer), to the remote and idyllic Porth Chapel and Nanjizal Bay. There is a wide range of places to eat, from traditional pubs to top quality sea food restaurants serving local produce including fish fresh from the boat.
Porthcurno beach has RNLI life guards, car parking, toilets and beach café. Porth Chapel is quieter, with a steep path down to the beach. The remote Nanjizal beach can only be reached on foot, a 20 to 30 minute walk: steep steps lead down to the spectacular and secluded beach. Porthgwarra Cove has a small beach at low water, and fabulous rock pools to explore as the tide comes in. All these within one mile. Sennen Cove is less than ten minute’s drive away, over a mile of sandy beach. Golf: Golf course at Cape Cornwall (seven miles).
As well as the beaches and the cliffs, this part of Cornwall has some of the most amazing heritage in Europe: there are three stone circles and an Iron Age village within five miles of Raftra Cottage, plus many Celtic crosses over 1,000 years old dotted alongside the footpaths and lanes.
