Wendron Mining District - Wheal Christopher Consols

Wheal Christopher Consols was a small mine situated just to the north east of Higher Prospidnick. It lies just south of the hamlet of Releath and to the east of Nancegollan in the parish of Sithney. There are very few surviving records and so facts are scarce. The mine lies on the same set of lodes as those of Prospidnick Mine and it is bordered by Wheal Fursdon, Wheal Lamb and Wheal Vrawz.

The mine worked the lodes from two shafts, one named Western Shaft, the other as yet un-named. Between 1853 and 1858 the mine was said to be troubled by 'poor lodes', although in 1857-58 the mine managed to produce just over 61 tons of tin at a value of £3,956.90. It was managed by William Teague between 1860 and 1862. Work at the mine was suspended between 1863 and 1865.
