The Mines of Gwennap - North Wheal Busy

OS Explorer Map 104: Grid reference SW734458

The sett of North Wheal Busy lies northwest of Wheal Busy between the village of Blackwater and the present A30 trunk road. It is bounded on the north by East Treskerby Mine (more recently reworked as Wheal Concord), on the south by Boscawen Mine. North Wheal Busy was quite a small mine, working a single lode from a number of shafts, their locations now lost. There are no records of output.

For more information on production dates and so on please see Roger Burt's excellent book Cornish Mines: Metalliferous and Associated Minerals, 1845-1913 (Mineral Statistics of the United Kingdom, 1845-1913).

For those of you with possibly a little more time to explore, once you've done 'the tourist bit', why not explore Cornwall's industrial heritage through its Tin and Copper Mines or learn more from my Cornish Bookstore
