The North Coast - Great Onslow ConsolsOS Explorer Map 109: Grid reference SX096777 Great Onslow Consols, otherwise known as Great Michell Consols, lies two and threequarters southwest of Camelford in the St. Breward parish of North Cornwall. The mine worked two lodes. Main Lode was developed from Engine Shaft and Whim (or Sump) Shaft. East and West Lode was also present. Records of production for 1853 to 1856 and for 1860 are: 935 tons of 3.5% copper ore and 4,950 tons of pyrite. Now that 'World Heritage' status has been achieved Cornwall in Focus will monitor developments and learn how the mines of North Cornwall fare within the overall Mining framework.
