St. Austell Mining District - Parka Consols Mine

OS Explorer Map 106: Grid reference SW917598

Parka Consols Mine lies about one mile north of Indian Queens in the Belowda Area of the St. Austell Mining District. Otherwise known as Toldish Tin Mine, the mine lies just west of Ruthvoes (Toldish Iron Mine) in St. Enoder parish. It worked three main lodes: Great Lode, North Lode and Great Caunter Lode from Engine Shaft.

Information on this mine is very scarce and there are no records of production.

Now that 'World Heritage' status has been achieved Cornwall in Focus will monitor developments and learn how the mines of the St. Austell District fare within the overall Mining framework.

For those of you with possibly a little more time to explore, once you've done 'the tourist bit', why not explore Cornwall's industrial heritage through its Tin and Copper Mines or learn more from my Cornish Bookstore
