The Mines of Redruth - Wheal Trefusis

Wheal Trefusis sett lay about threequarters of a mile southeast of Redruth Railway Station. The sett also includes East Wheal Trefusis. There is nothing to see of Wheal Trefusis these days but when at work the mine was bounded by Clijah and Wentworth Mine to the west and Wheal Sparnon to the north. East Wheal Trefusis worked Main Lode from Engine Shaft. Wheal Trefusis meanwhile opened up Engine Shaft on North Lode, Boundary Shaft, Nicholl's Shaft and Joliffe's Shaft from Middle Lode and Reynold's Shaft from South Lode.

There is very little information on these mines. There are no recorded production figures for East Wheal Trefusis. At Wheal Trefusis there is a report of 350 tons of 6.5% copper ore and 205 tons of black tin raised between 1853 and 1863. The mine was suspended in 1865.
