Mines of Wendron - Wheal Ann

This mine lies due south of the village of Wendron, near Helston in West Cornwall. The building housed a 48-inch pumping engine with a wooden beam - this can be confirmed by the fact that the bob-wall is not so massive as normal. Part of Trumpet Consols, Wheal Ann engine house was built in the early 1800's over a shaft some 960ft (160 fathoms) deep below adit. The tin mine also producing such other minerals as Argentite, Cerussite (White Lead Ore), Limonite, Felspar, Mica and Silver. The pumping engine was sold in 1848 to Wheal Valls. To the north lies East Trumpet Consols which worked between 1867 to 1871 with a 30-inch pumping engine house.
