Great Trethew Manor Country Hotel and Restaurant

Picture of Great Trethew Manor Country Hotel and Restaurant

Great Trethew Manor Bed and Breakfast will surprise you all. Nestled in 40 acres of woodlands and countryside, it may not be the usual thoughts of a BandB. The manor itself being once part of a working farm dates back to the early 1800's. The original manor burnt down before this time, and we are unsure of the remains that were left behind. Guests are welcome to explore the grounds, taking a 20 minute woodland walk which will take you past the trout lake, and if you are lucky enough to see the wild deers, badgers, stokes and other wildlife on your travels. The manor itself is oozing with charm and character, sorry we dont have the modern furniture here, we pride ourselves on the old worlde charm and the creaks and cracks of the antique furniture. No room will be found the same, but i can guarantee that you will be made to feel very welcome, and everything you require from a cup of tea, or relaxing to watch the television will be found in your room. Our rooms comprise of two four poster rooms, both with ensuite bathrooms, one on the first and the other on the second floor. We have four superior ensuite rooms again three of these are on the first floor with the fourth on the second floor, all with either kingsize or superking bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms. All of our standard doubles and single rooms are on the second floor together with ensuite showers. Two family rooms completely different to each other, one on the second floor with double bed and bunk beds with ensuite shower and the other is on the first floor with a double bedroom and adjoining door to a twin room, together with shower room and a bathroom. All our rooms are ensuite and will include tea and coffee facilities and a television. Downstairs as you enter the manor, you will come across the lounge and restaurant, with two open log roaring fires throughout the winter, and the summer when the evenings get chilly. Our restaurant offers an unusual menu, all with home cooked food, and local produce when available, but with an added twist we also offer alternative steaks, such as Zebra, Bison, Springbok, Ostrich and Camel. Not only is our chef more than happy to cook for you, but we do also offer the Volcanic Lava Stones where guests can use the imagination of cooking your food at the table, which is always an exciting way and a very good talking point. Our restaurant is open every evening - though we do ask guests if wishing to dine with us, to book by 6pm if at all possible. We like to cook and wait on you to perfection so take our time and thought on every table. Outside the manor and within the grounds, we have a selection of activities to keep you busy, when the days are dry and light the children can roam the gardens and grounds and make good use of the free bouncy castle and trampoline. The whole family could have a go at our onsite trekking, our stable block is the home of 7 horses ranging from 11hands to Hugo the giant stepping in at 16.3 Hands so there is no excuse for anyone to give it a go. Pony trekking is available at all times of the day, and can be booked upon arrival, or any time throughout your stay. The trout lake is filled with brown trout and is fly fishing only, so bring along your fishing rods and give this ago whilst staying with us. Dont forget to meet our four kune kune cross pot bellied pigs on your strolls, and if you like pets, our friendly great dane would be more than willing to explore the grounds with you. Chickens and peacocks are wondering so do ask for some treats at reception if you wish to feed them as you go. Nestled behind the manor is 6 self catering cottages (apartments). Each offering there own charm and again very different to the next. Recently and presently going through the process of being redecorated. The cottages date back over 200 years, and were once the stables for the manor itself. Miller cottage being the biggest of the six, sleeping up to 6 people comprising of two bedrooms, with seperate lounge and kitchen and aga. Trelawny cottage is able to sleep four people, one open plan bedroom with bunk beds and double bed, then we have Trevithick, Kernow and Davy cottage each having two bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other with bunk beds), downstairs on each of these cottages is small but complete with open plan, small kitchenlounge and dining areas, all cottages are fully fitted with microwave, oven, fridge and all cutlery and crocker. Not forgetting Trethew Bungalow which sleeping capacity for five people, one double bedroom, and the other room with a single bed and bunk beds, has an open log fire in the lounge, seperate kitchen and a bathroom. Plenty of parking facilities are available for each cottage. Please state at time of booking, if you are bringing any pets with you.
