As part of the overall transport planning for the Truro and Falmouth areas, the number of trains operating on the Truro to Falmouth Branch Line will more than double from the 12 per day at present, to 29 per day from October 2008.
After securing Convergence Funding from the EU, more than £8 million will be spent dualling the line at Penryn. This means that the current hourly service will be upgraded to half hourly with the main beneficiaries likely to be commuters between the new 'Park and Ride' at Truro, the Peninsula Medical School, Falmouth College and the Combined Universities Cornwall campus at Tremough, Penryn.
