But what if ...

Published 29 Apr 09 21:20

Where should you stay? What will you eat? Where should you buy it? What if it rains? No Problem!

You can choose to be tucked in the middle of nowhere or right in the heart of the seaside. Most restaurants and eating places welcome (well behaved) children and special offers can often be found for weekday meals in the local papers.

You can make the most of local produce available in independent shops, farm shops and local farmers markets to cook up simple wholesome family meals to spend the evening over. With so many good, simple cook books on the market you never need be stuck for a recipe. Why traipse round the same old supermarket you have at home when you can buy so much fresher elsewhere. And yes, the little shop is subject to the same health and hygiene regulations as the big one and has so much more to lose by failing to meet such standards. This local butcher will more than likely have known the animal now on his slab for most of its life. Your veg will have very little carbon footprint, more often than not it has travelled just a few muddy boot prints to where it is now on sale. It may even still be covered in local mud that hasn't yet dried.

But what if it rains?! Well it is Cornwall. Most attractions now have indoor areas to help with those wet days. There are also quirky local museums; flea markets; visitor centres - why not tour an ice cream factory?
Did you bring the families' bikes? Explore over 180 miles of cycle routes throughout Cornwall on the The Cornish Way. Safe scenic rides for all abilities - check out those cycle shorts in case they don't fit.

Well if you're going to get wet, why not learn to surf or improve your technique, show off that physique in a wetsuit or relax on one of the many outstanding beaches and admire the techniques and physiques while enjoying your local produce picnic?
