See Cornwall from the Air - Balloon FlightsOur partnership with the nationally acclaimed Flights 4 All, allows us to offer something a little different...The chance to see Cornwall from the air. Fancy a Champagne Balloon flight over Bodmin or Launceston 'After laying out the envelope and attaching it to the burner and basket the pilot will inflate it with cold air by use of a petrol-driven fan. At the appropriate point the burner is turned on and the air within the envelope is rapidly heated. The heated air expands and fills the envelope to capacity and it rises like a gentle giant from its slumbering prone position to sit neatly above the basket into which you will climb. With the protection of padding and a forgiving wicker basket you and the pilot will rise gracefully into the air where, almost silently, the balloon drifts gently downwind across the countryside. Watch and listen to the people talking, dogs barking and birds and field animals spending their day, all from your floating platform. The pilot will skilfully manoeuvre the gentle giant towards the landing site; whether it be a school playing field a farmer's field or even a regular airfield. Occasionally the bump of a landing will cause laughter from the occupants but usually the touchdown is akin to jumping off a kerbstone and the possibility of being briefly squashed against a fellow passenger is not a problem! A morning flight or an evening flight will each bring its share of things to watch and photograph from the general vista of the green countryside to the close-up of trees, houses or animals. A flight of around an hour will generate hours more fun when you begin relating the story of your adventure.'
