CamelfordCamelford (Cornish: Ryskammel) is a town in North Cornwall. It lies on the River Camel and is about 11 miles northeast of Wadebridge on the A39 Atlantic Highway. The main industry of the area was slate quarrying, Delabole lying just over four miles away to the west. It is also home to the North Cornwall Museum. There are several excellent walks in the area, with one of the best being the short hike up to Rough (pronounced Row) Tor. The nearby villages of Advent, Davidstow and Lanteglos are also worth a visit. The mystical town of Tintagel lies just six miles away to the northwest, with picturesque Boscastle about the same distance to the north, whilst keen gardeners may wish to visit Pencarrow. Camelford may be used as base from which to explore North Cornwall as there are some excellent places to stay nearby. See our Where to Stay Section for more information.
