The Beaches of East Cornwall - E06 - Pendower Beach
This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike. Location: South Coast - Roseland Peninsula - 1½ miles SW of Veryan 
A mile long sandy beach with some dunes and rock pools (at nearby Carne beach) for the youngsters. The offshore rock at its midpoint is called Pibyah Rock and the beach is broken at its centre by a rocky outcrop behind which lies the Pendower House Hotel. Pendower lies roughly halfway between Porthscatho and Portloe and is sheltered by Nare Head to the east. This is quite a popular beach with families and merges into Carne beach at its eastern end. All the usual facilities are found here including parking toilets and refreshments. The cliff walk up to Nare Head can be very rewarding in fine weather. There is also the ancient mound known as Dingerein Castle on farmland a few hundred metres to the south west of the beach although I am not sure about access - Please ask locally. Facilities
