The Beaches of East Cornwall - E14 - Gorran Haven Beach
This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike. Location: South Coast - 2 miles south of Mevagissey
Gorran Haven has a reasonably sized beach of quite good sand. Care should be taken when approaching the village as the roads down to the car park are quite narrow. There is a stone harbour here and all the usual facilities such as toilets, telephone and refreshments. Somewhat quieter than its neighbour Mevagissey, Gorran is however steadily gaining in popularity. There is quite safe bathing here and so the beach - also called Little Perhaver - is a favourite with families. There are good cliff walks southwest to Dodman Point and a somewhat more strenuous route northeast passing Great Perhaver Beach and on over Pabyer Point and Turbot Point to Portmellon and Mevagissey.
