The Beaches of East Cornwall - E37 - Hannafore, Looe
This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike. Location: South Coast - half a mile west of Looe
There are two coarse sand and shingle beach lying below Marine Drive, Hannafore at Looe. The western beach - grid ref. 235522 is known as Wallace Beach. About half a mile east and closer to Looe lies Hannafore Beach. At low tide a rocky reef is uncovered and offshore lies St. George's Island. From here it is a pleasant half hour walk east to Looe where one finds all the usual facilities. To the west along the coastpath lies the very picturesque Samphire Beach at Portnadler Bay. Boat trips leave from Looe to explore the caves and birdlife of the island, giving the visitor a change from the norm. Facilities
