Walk Duration 40 minutes

Porthgwarra - Porth Loe - Porthgwarra Circular Walk

Carn Guthernbras Gwennap Head at sunset

This is an excellent place to watch the sun setting over the Longships Lighthouse or to look out for basking sharks and seals. Other points of interest include the Runnelstone Buoy and the Wolf Rock Lighthouse (offshore)....

Sunset at Porth Loe

Park your car at the large car park at Porthgwarra. Walk down towards the steep slipway before heading up right along the well marked coast path. Continue up the path passing Hella Point until it levels out near the top. Look east (to your left) to see the spectacular cliffs at Porthcurno. The path splits offering you a choice of routes depending on your liking for heights. The inland path runs up over the cliff towards the brightly painted shipping daymarks and the Coastguard Lookout. The inner route is quite level, but doesn't offer the splendid views of the outer path. The coastpath continues upwards once again for a few yards before you crest the top of Carn Guthensbrās and are rewarded with fine views north-west to Land's End. The cove below you is Porth Loe - the site of the shipwreck of the Khyber in 1905. Retrace your steps or follow any other of the well marked paths back down to your car.
