The Beaches of North Cornwall - N06 - Treyarnon Bay
This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike. Location: North Coast - 4 miles southwest of Padstow
Treyarnon Bay is a popular west facing surfing beach situated about ½ mile south of the far larger Constantine Bay, mid-way between Bedruthan Steps and Trevose Head. Surrounded by several campsites and caravan parks the beach is seldom deserted. There is a Youth Hostel just behind the northern side of the beach and there are good cliff walks available south to Porthcothan and north to Constantine Bay and on to the lighthouse and viewpoint of Trevose Head (just over a mile away). The approach roads are quite narrow and twisty but should provide few problems to the careful driver. There is a large grassy car park here with good parking, a small beach shop and good Public Conveniences. There is good surfing here and a well-placed lifeguard hut. Swimming is not always advisable as there can be strong rip currents here at some states of the tide. Please be aware of the warning notices here and listen carefully for messages from the lifeguards. Facilities
