OS Explorer Map 106 Newquay & PadstowOS Explorer Map 106 Newquay & Padstow

This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike.

Location: North Coast - 3.5 miles southwest of Padstow

Constantine Bay

Constantine Bay offers a wide crescent of golden sand backed by masses of low dunes. A favourite with surfers, this and the adjoining Booby's Bay can be quite busy in the summer. The west facing beach extends for about half a mile north to low rocks which all but separates the two bays. Behind the beach and dune system lies Trevose Golf Course with footpaths leading northeast to Harlyn Bay. There are easy walks south to Treyarnon on the low slate cliffs and a slightly harder walk up to the viewpoint on Trevose Head. The beach is overseen by lifeguards in season but bathers should still be aware of the state of the tide. There can be fine surfing here but strong rip currents mean surfing should be left to the experts. Obey any warning signs or instructions from the lifeguards. There is a small car park here.
