The Beaches of North Cornwall - N08 - Booby's Bay
This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike. Location: North Coast - 3.5 miles southwest of Padstow
Booby's Bay and its adjoining Constantine Bay lie just to the south of Trevose Head. The beach here has quite fine golden sand but flat rocky outcrops make swimming quite dangerous. There are rock pools to interest the younger visitor. Surfing is possible here but is best left to the experts. There is quite good cliff walking north past the collapsed sea cave known as Round Hole to the lighthouse on Trevose Head. More seasoned walkers may wish to round the point on the coastpath to visit beaches at Mother Ivey's Bay and Harlyn Bay.
