The Beaches of North Cornwall - N17 - Broadagogue Cove
This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike. Location: North Coast - 1 mile south of Polzeath
Broadagogue Cove is a little known cove of sand and rocks situated at Trebetherick near Polzeath. Its main claim to fame is its banded purple and green slates, quite striking especially when wet. The cove is largely overlooked in favour of its far larger and better known neighbours of Daymer Bay to the south and Hayle Bay, Polzeath to the north. Best seen as a curiosity while walking along the coastpath rather than a beach in its own right. The amateur geologist however would have a great time spotting various structures and rock types...an echo of times long past. Facilities
