OS Explorer Map 106 Newquay & PadstowOS Explorer Map 106 Newquay & Padstow

This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike.

Location: North Coast - 10 miles east of Padstow

Port Isaac Harbour

More of a working harbour than a 'pleasure' beach. Port Isaac is popular with visitors due to its picturesque setting and the inclusion of the port in several recent films, such as 'Saving Grace'. There are good, if strenuous, cliff walks west to Port Quin and east through Port Gaverne towards Tregardock and ultimately Tintagel.
About 2 miles to the west of Port Isaac lies Port Quin. Not so much a beach as a former harbour tucked away at the end of a long sheltered inlet. Nestling between Doyden Point and Kellan Head, the village is now almost exclusively owned by the National Trust and gets overlooked by the majority of visitors as they head for the more accessible Polzeath and Port Isaac nearby. An excellent area for cliff walks although there are no facilities at Port Quin.
