The Beaches of North Cornwall - N23 - Tregardock Beach
This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike. Location: North Coast - 4 miles southwest of Tintagel
A rock strewn sandy beach halfway between Tintagel and Port Isaac. There is no beach at high tide but a decent amount of sand at low tide. There is good swell here as it is west facing and the beach is protected at its northern end by Tregonnick Tail. Swimming and surfing should only be undertaken by professionals who should be well aware of the state of the tide. The beach is overlooked by the pyramid-shaped hill known as The Mountain which has been heavily eroded on its seaward side.There are excellent coast path walks northeast towards Trebarwith Strand over Backways Cove and Tintagel. Southwest lies the strenuous walk to Port Isaac - not really advisable for the beginner or those with vertigo! Facilities
