Walking Cudden Point to Praa Sands - 2.2 milesOS Explorer 102: grid reference SW551278 to SW576281 Walk Duration 1 Hour 25 minutes
For ease and security of parking it is a lot better to undertake this walk in reverse. Park in either of the large car parks at Praa Sands. Opposite the shop, walk up the wide track as indicated . Shortly you pass the NT sign of Sydney Cove. Continue up above Hoe Point - grid ref SW571278, the wide beach in front of you is Kenneggy Sand. The path descends as you walk west passing Pestreath Cove. At Kenneggy Cliff the path runs close to the edge on some occasions, and rises and falls as the contours dictate, especially seaward of the waste tip to the former Wheal Speed Mine. Now about 30 minutes into your walk, cross the wobbly boardwalk before dropping down steps as the path passes the track down to the beach at Kenneggy.
Stop to read the warning sign erected by the Porthenalls Estate, before carrying on a little more inland. The coastpath now widens into an unmade road as it passes King's Cove, take care because vehicles can pass through here. Proceed through the Porthenalls Estate, following the path as it rises to overlook Bessy's Cove. Follow the footpath up behind the cottage as shown, then skirt behind the cove aiming for the pillar - A memorial to the battleship HMS Warspite on Little Cudden. Continue climbing now to the 200 ft (61m) triangulation point at Cudden Point [grid ref SW 551278]. Stop at the crest for fine views ahead to Penzance and Mount's Bay and back to see what you have just acheived.
