Walking Marazion to Perranuthnoe - 1.9 milesOS Explorer 102: grid reference SW520305 to SW535292 View Map Walk Duration 70 minutes
For ease of parking this walk was undertaken in reverse, that is from Perranuthnoe to Marazion. Park your car at the small car park in Perranuthnoe. Leave the car park and cross the road carefully. With the sea on your left, look ahead for the customary coastal footpath waymarker. Pass through the low hedge to join the narrow coastal footpath through a couple of fields. Shortly you reach the small point known as Maen-du (Black Rock) Point offering you your first view of St. Michael's Mount. Just offshore here lies The Greeb, a low lying finger of rock pointing southwest.
Take care here to stay on the marked route as the cliffs around Perranuthnoe are quite weak geologically and frequently undercut by the sea. Use the upper path at Basore Point as indicated. Join the wide track as it drops down passing a house. Stop to read the yellow 'Coastpath - Cliff Fall Diversion' sign before dropping down once again near two wooden seats. Continue along through the NT area of Boat Cove, Trenow then up through ferns [grid ref. SW531299]. Take the narrow inland path as you pass the second seat and proceed westwards. Shortly you pass another waymarker near a hedge confirming that you are indeed still on the coastpath. Cross a field then a stile near a rocky outcrop. Negotiate another stile before dropping down metal steps onto the beach - you should now have been walking for about 45 minutes. Walk along the back of the beach for about 100 metres, taking the first available path up on your right to lead you away from the beach. Follow the narrow lane up some concrete steps to a metalled drive. Continue walking up the slope until you reach the eastern outskirts of Marazion at Henfor Terrace. It is now a simple 10-15 minute walk down the road into Marazion, passing the Mount Haven Hotel. A suitable place to end your walk - and maybe commence the next - is the Maypole Gardens.
