Whitsand Battery to Rame Head - 2.0 miles

OS Explorer 108: grid reference SX410513 to SX422487   View Map

Walk Duration: --

Rame Head from Freathy Cliff

Park your car at Wiggle, grid reference SX419503 and carefully walk back along the road to the Clifftop Cafe near the Whitsand Bay Holiday Camp mentioned in the previous walk Portwrinkle to Whitsand Battery. Bear right off the road following the waymarked path as it undulates southeast towards Wiggle Cliff. Pass the memorial seat to Bill Best Harris and then bear left at a fork in the coastpath. The path heading slightly inland to the road and the car park that was your start point. Your route descends again to pass a whitewashed building. Climb a stile onto a wide private track leading behind some old cottages, formerly coastguard houses. As you near Polhawn Fort look seaward to see Polhawn Cove. The coastpath follows the contours southwest towards Queener Point before swinging around left towards the 600 year old St. Michael's Chapel on Rame Head. Take the time to venture seaward onto the headland as the views can be spectacular. Once explored return to follow the footpath east to the car parkg rid reference SX422487. This will be the start of your next walk to Kingsand. See also my map of the surrounding area for more details.
