OS Explorer Map 102 LandOS Explorer Map 102 Land's End

This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike.

Location: South Coast - 1.5 miles east of Marazion, 8 miles from Helston

Looking east to Cudden Point

Perran Sands is a half mile long beach of flat golden sand and is completely covered at high tide. There are relatively gentle cliff walks east to Cudden Point and Prussia Cove along Trebarvah and Stackhouse Cliffs and west through Treknow towards Marazion and St. Michael's Mount. There has been some recent erosion here so please take heed of the warning notices and keep clear of the cliff edges. In early mornings at certain times only the castle on the Mount is visible above the mist - floating like a cloud castle - this really gives the area west of Perranuthnoe an eerie feel....you almost feel transported back to the times of Merlin and King Arthur.... Bathing can be risky at certain states of the tide so check before entering the sea.
