The Beaches of South Cornwall - S32 - Flushing Cove
This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike. Location: South Coast - ½ mile south of the Helford River
Flushing Cove is a small river beach just west of Gillan harbour. It should not be confused with the village on the Fal, some five miles away. Flushing Cove is quite a quiet beach and hamlet with only the occasional person making their way over to St. Anthony-in Meneage via the river crossing or east to Gillan. No facilities. Parking here is limited so if you intend to visit please arrive early. There are good walks west along the river bank towards Manaccan or northwest to Helford Village. About one and a half a miles east lies the rocky Mên-aver Beach with further walks available along Lestowder Cliff leading to Nare Point. Facilities
