The Beaches of South Cornwall - S34 - Penarvon Cove, Helford
This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike. Location: South Coast - Southern shore of the Helford River
Penarvon Cove lies a few hundred metres west of Helford Village on the southern bank of the Helford River. The beach is a typical river beach, with angular fragments of slaty type rocks. The water here is clear and laps gently against the shore. The secluded cove is frequently used as a landing place for the self-drive dinghies available for hire at Helford Passage. Overlooked by many due to its proximity to the facilities offered at Helford Village and just across the water at Helford Passage. A place to rest after a walk to the nearby Frenchman's Creek but there are no facilities here.
