The Beaches of South Cornwall - S41 - Nansidwell Cove
This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The beach at Nansidwell Cove lies just north of Rosemullion Head. The beach is mainly shingle, quite coarse in places fronted by rocks. There are good walks north to Maenporth or south to Rosemullion Head. Parking at Mawnan Church and doing a 5 mile circular walk including Porth Sawsen, Carwinion Valley, Calvadnack through Maenporth is one option and really gives the true flavour of the Mawnan Smith and North Helford area. Gardeners may wish to explore Glendurgan and Trebah Gardens as well as a host of smaller attractions. The PRIVATE beach at Bream Cove lies about half a mile east of Mawnan Smith and roughly midway between Maenporth and Rosemullion Head. The beach is mainly sandy but with some rocks. There are rock pools here to entertain the young and a little bit of solitude for adults - quite relaxing! The water quality is excellent here and this makes Bream Cove a favourite for divers. There are fine walks up through the wooded valley to Treworgan as well as along the coast to either Maenporth or Helford via Rosemullion Head. Accommodation is available nearby at the Meudon Hotel.
