The Beaches of South Cornwall - S45 - Flushing Beach
This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike. Location: South Coast - ½ mile south of the Helford River.
Gillan Harbour lies about half mile south of the Helford River on the southern bank of a small creek opposite St. Anthony in Meneage. The beach is a mixture of sand and shingle and there is a small area of grass suitable for picnics. Like the other small river beaches nearby at Flushing and Men-Aver, Gillan Harbour beach is rarely crowded. There are good walks west along the river bank towards Manaccan or northwest to Helford Village. About half a mile east of Gillan lies the rocky Mên-aver Beach with walks available east to Lestowder Cliff leading to Nare Point. Facilities
