Walking Sennen Cove to Aire Point 1.7 milesOS Explorer Map 102: grid reference SW354263 to SW359281 Walk Duration: 45 mins.
Park your car at either of the Sennen Cove car parks and walk down towards the beach. A good guidebook for the area is the National Trail Guide: SW Coast Path - Padstow to Falmouth by John Macadam. Facing the sea, head right (north) along the coastpath, running just above the beach. Shortly, the path runs past some cottages in a small valley. Proceed over the small stream by the footbridge and then follow the path through the fenced area as indicated by the way marker post. Pass the concrete pill-box - a remnant of the Second World War.
Continue along the track, climbing slightly as it passes Carn Barges - grid ref. SW460270. Take care here along this stretch as the path runs close to the cliff edge on many occasions. This area is known as Escalls Cliff.
As you reach Gwynver (pronounced Gwenver) Beach scramble down the rocks and proceed along the back of the beach towards the rocky point ahead.
A further 15 minute walk will lead you to Aire Point via Tregiffian Vean Cliff. Continue with the route to Cape Cornwall (some 3¼ miles away) if you wish or retrace your steps back to Sennen Cove.
