OS Explorer Map 102 LandOS Explorer Map 102 Land's End

This map is part of the Ordnance Survey's Explorer series designed to replace the old Pathfinder map series. At 1:25,000 scale this detailed map shows a host of attractions including gardens which are open to the public, nature reserves and country parks as well as all official footpaths, bridleways, roads and lanes. Other facilities covered include: camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and viewpoints, selected places of interest, rights of way information for England and Wales, National Trail and Recreational Path routes, and selected tourist information. The series is aimed mainly at the experienced map user but can be used by tourists and locals alike.

Location: North Coast - 3 miles northwest of Camborne

Godrevy Lighthouse

Godrevy Towans marks the northern reach of Hayle Sands. The beaches below the low cliffs can be reached by a number of well marked descents. Rock pools, caves and gullys are plentiful, although care should be taken not to be cut off by the tide with no landward exits. Beach walking can be quite relaxing too as long as the state of the tide has been taken into account! In favourable conditions there can also be quite decent surf for those wishing to bodyboard or longboard, although certain stretches can be quite rocky. Local knowledge of the conditions and currents should be requested if you are on holiday or a novice. The proximity to the towns of Camborne and Redruth can make this area quite busy on weekends with those wishing to avoid the rat-race. The lighthouse makes this one of the most readily recognisable areas of West Cornwall. The headland across the bay is St. Ives. Why not take a trip over and look back to Godrevy and the rest of the North Coast from there?
